the Books from Heroes program is sponsored by the Franklin Special School District (FSSD) library media centers and is designed to promote literacy by providing children with the comfort of a good book from a trusted community servant. While school personnel promote reading to students on a daily basis, sometimes people of influence outside of school can create the largest impact. We are excited to partner with the Franklin Fire and Police Departments in distributing the books to children. The books collected for this program are fully funded by donations collected during school book fairs. After screening the donated books for age-appropriate content, a school library media specialist sorts the books into two levels: elementary and middle. If you would like to know more about this program or provide donations for books, please contact FIS Library Media Specialist Dinah Wade at 615-790-4718.
